Gingerbread Cookies recipe

Ingredients:
½ cup butter, softened
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg white
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon baking powder
Preparation Instructions:
1) Combine butter, sugar, molasses, egg white, and vanilla in a large metal bowl; using an electric mixer, beat until smooth. Set aside.
2) In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cinnamon, salt, ginger, baking soda, and baking powder. Add to butter mixture; mix well. Form mixture into a ball or log; wrap completely in plastic, sealing out any air. Refrigerate 2 hours.
3) Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease two cookie sheets.
4) Roll out dough onto lightly floured surface into 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into desired shaped with cookie cutters; place onto prepared sheets. Bake about 8 minutes, until edges begin to brown. Cool and decorate as desired.
